Limited spaces remain for Fall 2020!
October is an ideal month to take a much-deserved break from your studies and gather up your friends for a new adventure! Here are a few upcoming events to look forward to.
The Texas Grand Slam Poetry Festival
The first event is actually only a few miles from home. You can hop on mass transit to head right around the corner for The Texas Grand Slam Poetry Festival.
This three-day poetry jamboree, now in its 8th year, will present the talent of 42 poets from states all over the country from Maryland to Florida and Missouri to California. Each enthusiastic participant is creatively competing for a $1200 grand prize.
With free admission to the first two nights of festivities, the kick off is Thursday, October 18, when the Last Chance Slam will be held at Lupa's Coffee @7pm. Followed by Friday night's preliminary and semi-finals showcased at The Palace, The Village, and Revolution Café, starting at 5:30 PM in downtown Bryan. If you want to witness the finale and find out which versifier claims the ultimate victory head over to Rutter's Theatre at 7pm on Saturday, October 20.
2018 Art Outside Campout
The following Friday you can grab a group of friends for a little road trip to enjoy the second unique event this month, the 2018 Art Outside Campout at the Apache Event Center in Rockdale. Celebrate Halloween weekend (October 26-28) with "3 Days of Camping and Community," where an eclectic crowd comes together to explore music, art, yoga, campfires, and skill-sharing workshops designed to build a stronger community with an emphasis on art.
This one-of-a-kind, "less hectic," fest features two stages with ever-changing, innovative performances and a fully immersive creative environment. Organizers encourage everyone to engage in the planned activities and/or "just kick back and relax and enjoy the big Texas sky." Click here for information.
