The wild strawberries that start to ripen during early summer gave name to the Full Moon in June. To commemorate the event, enjoy a delicious nine course farm-to-table dinner at Ronin Farm on June 14th or 15th from 7-10 p.m. It all starts with a tour of the property at 7:30, then dinner at 8, followed by dessert and coffee in the garden as the strawberry moon rises.
A new exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Library provides some thought-provoking indoor fun. Wit and Humor, American Political Cartoons opens July 1st and runs until June 5th of 2020, and provides a wide-ranging look back at the history of U.S. political cartoons, featuring such well-known figures as Thomas Nast, Patrick Oliphant and Garry Trudeau. It's worth going any day, but consider making it part of your July 4th activities, as the Bush Library is offering free admission all day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to celebrate the nation's birthday.
Nothing helps you get in a patriotic mood better than a rousing 4th of July concert and fireworks! The Brazos Valley Symphony is offering a free concert at the George W. Bush Library as part of the 4th of July I Love America Celebration. The music begins at 8:45 p.m. with a fireworks show afterwards. The concert music will include favorites such as March music by John Philip Sousa and of course the 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky.
