Sign Up For a Race Around College Station this Fall
It's no secret that running provides numerous benefits for both the body and the mind. Whether running is already part of your routine or you are thinking of establishing a new habit this semester, a great way to focus your training is to sign-up for a race. Buddy Walk 5K
Sunday, October 6th
The Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley is hosting their 3rd annual 5k with a "little extra" at the beautiful Millican Reserve. As people with down syndrome have an extra chromosome, this walk adds an extra .11 miles at the end of the race to show support. Participants may be accompanied by a runner with down syndrome for this final dash to the finish. This 5K is a great way to get outside while supporting a great cause. Proceeds of the race go to cognitive research and education programs for people born with down syndrome. Register here for this trail race. Runners of all abilities are welcome.
Candy Trail Run
Saturday, November 2nd
Celebrate National Candy Day with a fun run through the woods on the best trails in College Station. You can choose between 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and even marathon distances to complete on the single track trails through Millican Reserve. The fun terrain and beautiful scenery will keep you alert through the very last mile. Race organizers recommend you have some experience trail running before attempting this race, especially if you are going for distances longer than 5K. So lace up those shoes and head outside to start training! Registration and race day information can be found on their website.
